Imphal: Tangkhul Naga civil society leaders, led by the Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL), traveled to Makhan village in Kangpokpi district on Friday to support the families of six men killed by suspected Kuki militants. A delegation of over 100 members met with the bereaved families and Liangmai Naga representatives at the Makhan Baptist Church to express solidarity.

The six victims, identified as Rev. Manu Thiumai, Pastor Kenpibou Chawang, Phenrongwi Thiumai, Phennilungbou, Dilip Thiumai, and Kaliwangbou Abonmai, were abducted from Leilon Vaiphei village on May 13. TNL President Sword Vashum condemned the violence and emphasized that collective action is essential for the community to survive the crisis. He stated, "We do not find words strong enough to describe the immensity of inhumanity that leads to such acts of barbarity and savagery."

Vashum insisted that the strength of the Naga people depends on maintaining unity in the face of adversity. During the visit, the delegation provided essential supplies including rice and cash, while Tangkhul Shanao Long President Thingreiphi Lunghar offered traditional shawls to the victims' families as a mark of respect.

Former IRS officer Timothy Zimik also addressed the group, recounting his unsuccessful attempts to urge state authorities to revoke the Suspension of Operations agreement with Kuki militants. He called on the Naga youth to remain vigilant in defending their land and identity. Former MP Mani Charenamei expressed gratitude on behalf of the Liangmai community for the support received during this period of mourning.
