Sushmita Dev Resigns From Trinamool Congress and Rajya Sabha

Guwahati: Sushmita Dev, a former Rajya Sabha member, announced her departure from the Trinamool Congress on Saturday, June 13. She cited a combination of personal and political factors for the decision, noting that she could no longer advance her ambitions within the current framework of the party in Assam.

Dev clarified that she chose to vacate her Rajya Sabha seat alongside her resignation because she felt it was the ethically correct action to take. She explained, "If one leaves a party, one should also give up the Rajya Sabha seat, as that seat was granted by the party; that is what I felt was right."

Regarding her future plans, Dev did not provide specific details but encouraged her supporters to wait for updates. She stated, "Please have a little patience. You will soon find out which direction I am heading." She expressed confidence that her base would continue to support her regardless of her next political affiliation.
