Agartala: Six Tripura Education Department workers finally landed permanent jobs on Wednesday. A Supreme Court ruling forced the state government to drop its resistance and hand over the formal paperwork. These individuals spent years working as Daily Rated Workers within the secondary education branch.

The legal fight stalled early on. The High Court initially sided with the state government, claiming no specific program existed to make their positions permanent. The workers refused to quit. They teamed up with two more employees and took the fight to the Supreme Court. The top court sided with the laborers this past April.

Advocate Purushottam Roy Barman, who led the legal challenge, noted the lengthy struggle for these staff members. The court gave the state a three-month deadline to fix the situation. The mandate changed the lives of the survivors.

Of the eight original petitioners, only six remained to accept the status change. One worker died during the legal process, and another retired. The court order serves as a major win for irregular staff throughout the state. Reflecting on the outcome, one employee stated, "The employees expressed happiness and thanked the judiciary for delivering justice."
