Gangtok: Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang has introduced a 20 percent reservation for Agniveers in the state police force. This policy applies to recruits who successfully complete their four-year service under the central government's Agnipath scheme, offering them a defined career path once their military tenure ends.

The announcement took place on June 16 at Samman Bhawan in Gangtok during a meeting with 105 newly recruited Agniveers. State officials noted that this group represents the largest number of recruits from Sikkim since the Agnipath initiative began. Tamang praised the participants for their dedication and emphasized that the government aims to support these individuals throughout their professional transition. He stated that the reservation policy is intended to provide a clear and structured career pathway for Agniveers after their military service, while recognising their contribution to national service and discipline.

This initiative positions Sikkim alongside other states working to facilitate civilian employment for military veterans. The move is expected to benefit both male and female recruits from the region by providing stable opportunities within the local police department following their discharge.
