Gangtok: President Droupadi Murmu awarded the President’s Police Colour to the Sikkim Police during a ceremony at Paljor Stadium in Gangtok today. This honor recognizes the department for its exceptional service, discipline, and dedication to the nation. With this achievement, Sikkim becomes the 15th state in India and the third in the Northeast to receive the distinction.
Addressing the assembled force, President Murmu encouraged officers to adopt a citizen-centric approach to their duties. She urged the police to remain sensitive to the needs of the public, with a specific focus on women, children, and underprivileged individuals. She praised the department for its effective work in maintaining local order and managing disaster responses.
The President also highlighted the growing necessity for law enforcement to adapt to modern threats. She called on the force to leverage technology to tackle emerging issues like cybercrime, online fraud, and deepfake content. She expressed her confidence that the Sikkim Police will continue to meet these modern challenges through advanced tools and professional diligence.
