Sikkim Electoral Roll Update Stalled by Over 13,000 Uncollectable Forms

Gangtok: Sikkim’s ongoing Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls has identified over 13,000 uncollectable Enumeration Forms. Official data from the state portal shows that 13,474 forms, representing 2.86 per cent of the targeted electorate, could not be processed by field teams as of June 19.

Death accounts for the highest number of uncollectable files at 6,173 cases. An additional 5,266 individuals could not be reached because they permanently moved from their registered locations. Field teams also documented 1,126 cases involving untraceable or absent persons, while 865 individuals were already registered in different jurisdictions. A small remainder of 44 forms fell under miscellaneous categories.

Despite these hurdles, election officials have reached nearly total coverage for the distribution phase. The state has successfully issued 4,69,433 forms, hitting 99.66 per cent of its target. The digitisation process is ongoing, with officials confirming that "3,09,565 forms had been digitised as of Friday, accounting for 65.72 per cent of the forms distributed."
