Sikkim Chief Minister Outlines Redevelopment Plans for Delhi Properties

Gangtok: Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang inspected the New Sikkim House in New Delhi on Wednesday to assess plans for a major redevelopment project. The initiative aims to provide better support for citizens from Sikkim visiting the national capital by adding more rooms, improving parking capacity, and installing modern infrastructure.

During his visit, Tamang also reviewed restoration efforts for the Old Sikkim House. He placed a strong emphasis on maintaining the site's unique architectural character and historical significance while updating the interior to meet contemporary standards. The state government is also planning comprehensive renovations for other regional properties, including DKK Bhawan and Sewa Bhawan located in Hauz Khas.

The Chief Minister met with the Minister for Buildings and Housing, Bhim Hang Limboo, and senior departmental officials to discuss the project timeline and execution. Reflecting on the broader goal of these renovations, the Chief Minister said, "The initiatives are aimed at providing improved, modern, and citizen-friendly facilities for people from Sikkim in New Delhi while ensuring the preservation of the state's heritage and cultural legacy."
