Shillong: Hundreds of people gathered at Khyndai Lad in Shillong on Saturday evening to honor six Naga civilians recently killed in Manipur. Organized by the Naga Elders Forum Shillong, the candlelight vigil served as a space for the community to show solidarity with the grieving families and pray for peace in the region.

Lhouvirielle Usou, the president of the forum, spoke to the crowd about the weight of the tragedy. "The silence, the pain that our Naga people are going through is expressed today here. We have all come here to express that we are with the families. We are here today to grief and also condemn the killing of these innocent victims," Usou said.

The Naga Elders Forum Shillong has officially reached out to the Government of India, the Union Home Minister, and the Chief Minister of Manipur. Through a memorandum delivered via the Chief Minister of Meghalaya, the group is urging authorities to restore order in the affected areas. They are also calling for an impartial investigation to ensure that those responsible for the violence face the full consequences of the law.
