Shillong: The Public Health Engineering Department of Meghalaya has announced a planned water supply shutdown for Shillong and its surrounding areas on May 25. Residents will be without water for six hours, starting at 10 am and concluding at 4 pm.

This interruption is necessary to allow for the installation of new 6.6 KV high tension panels. The project involves replacing existing pumping machinery, which officials say is vital for the long-term improvement of the Greater Shillong Water Supply Scheme.

Authorities have urged the public to store sufficient water ahead of the outage to minimize disruption. While the work is scheduled to last until the afternoon, department officials noted that they are making every effort to finish the installation and resume normal service as quickly as possible. The department expressed regret for the temporary inconvenience caused to the public.
