Shillong: Kitkupar Nongsiej is hitting the road. The Ka Sur Kynud Season-3 winner departs Shillong on July 10 to represent India at the World Championship of Performing Arts in Las Vegas. He takes the stage from July 13 to July 21.
Nongsiej earned his spot as a top local talent, though his journey hit a snag. Organizers originally planned for him to go last year, but global geopolitical circumstances forced them to push the trip to 2026. He will travel alongside his father, Aibari Kupar Syiemlieh.
The Don Bosco Youth Centre and Don Bosco Media Network held a final send-off on Wednesday to celebrate his career. Rev. Fr. John Zosiama served as the chief guest for the ceremony, which drew family and supporters. During the event, organizers highlighted the importance of the competition, stating that the show provides a platform for local musical talent to "reach national and international stages."
The singer now sets his sights on the world stage. He carries the hopes of Meghalaya with him.
