Imphal: The Music Academy Association Senapati and the Mount Everest College Music Club hosted a celebration for World Music Day 2026. Held at the college auditorium, the event provided a stage for young students to perform while emphasizing the theme of peace.

MAAS President Lemo Dominic led the assembly in a one-minute silent prayer to honor six deceased Naga hostages before the performances began. Dominic highlighted the cultural importance of the event, noting that the gathering served to recognize how music influences the human experience and promotes resilience.

Addressing the performers, Dominic said, "You are the storytellers of our time. Especially in times of challenge and personal hardship, music has been a steadfast source of comfort and resilience. It is a powerful tool for mental and emotional well-being. A single song has the power to heal a divided heart, soothe a tired mind and bring people together when words fail."

The event featured a wide range of acts including soloists, rock bands, and guitarists from various local institutions like the EpicGig Music Academy and Wings School of Music. Guest artists Jasmine Leivon, Ziikhu Titus Tyaletya, and Alamle Heraang also performed for the crowd. World Music Day, which began in France in 1982 to make music accessible in public spaces, is now observed in over 120 countries.
