Imphal: A joint task force of Manipur Police and the Indian Army raided a militant hideout in Churachandpur district on Tuesday. They destroyed a makeshift camp hidden in the dense forests near K. Thenjang village. The bust happened at 4 am.

Troops from the 19 Garhwal Rifles led the push alongside state police. They found four rifles, a 4-kg conical improvised explosive device, four bulletproof jackets, and two helmets. The team also bagged seven spent AK-47 cartridge cases, four 7.62 mm cases, and a radio set charger.

No militants were apprehended during the raid. The police stated, "All the seized arms and other materials have been handed over to the concerned police station for further investigation and legal action."

Forces are stepping up their hunt for illegal armed groups in the district. They are targeting outfits outside the Suspension of Operations framework. These groups have been linked to territorial fights, ambushes, and attacks on local leaders.
