Security forces seize Rs 1.13 crore in heroin from Manipur woman

Aizawl: Security forces arrested a Manipur woman in Mizoram on June 29 for smuggling heroin. The bust went down at the Seling checkpost. Officials recovered 150.97 grams of the drug during a joint operation between the Assam Rifles and Mizoram Police.

The seized narcotics carry a street value of approximately Rs 1.13 crore. Acting on specific intelligence, the team also grabbed a mobile phone from the suspect, who calls Chandel district in Manipur home. She is now in custody.

Authorities transferred the woman, the drugs, and the phone to the police for further investigation. The Assam Rifles credited the success to teamwork between the agencies. The force stated, "The successful operation reflects the close coordination between the paramilitary force and Mizoram Police in combating narcotics trafficking in the state."

The paramilitary unit plans to tighten surveillance along the India-Myanmar border. They aim to block the flow of illegal drugs to keep the region peaceful.
