Imphal: Security forces intercepted a major narcotics shipment in Manipur's Jiribam district on June 4, seizing 4 lakh Yaba tablets with an estimated street value of ₹47 crore. The joint operation involved the Assam Rifles, Manipur Police, the Central Reserve Police Force, and the India Reserve Battalion.

Acting on specific intelligence regarding drug smuggling, the teams set up an operation at Leingangpokpi. During the search, officers intercepted a Tata vehicle and discovered the large stash of contraband hidden inside. A resident of Bihar, who was operating the vehicle, was arrested at the scene.

The suspect, along with the recovered narcotics and the vehicle, has been handed over to local authorities for legal processing. Officials stated that the mission is a significant success in their broader anti-narcotics campaign. According to officials, the operation was launched based on specific intelligence inputs regarding the transportation of narcotics within the district.

Authorities are now focused on tracking the source and intended destination of the drugs. The investigation aims to dismantle the trafficking network by identifying other individuals connected to the smuggling operation. Security agencies confirmed that sustained efforts to stop the illegal drug trade across the Northeast will continue.
