Security forces seize 4 lakh WY tablets in major Jiribam drug bust

Imphal: A joint security team intercepted a truck carrying 400,000 WY tablets in Manipur's Jiribam district on June 4. The operation took place at Leingangpokpi village along National Highway 37, resulting in the seizure of approximately 46.37 kilograms of narcotics.

Police detained the driver, 30-year-old Pankaj Kumar Ray, a resident of Muzaffarpur, Bihar. The truck, identified by registration number AS-17C-6434, contained the illicit cargo hidden inside the vehicle. Authorities completed the seizure process by 2:20 p.m. after conducting the operation earlier that morning.

The successful mission involved personnel from Jiribam Police, the Special Mobile Patrol Unit, 7th IRB, 38 Assam Rifles, and multiple CRPF battalions. The state police confirmed, "A case has been registered at Jiribam Police Station under FIR No. 14(06)2026 JBM PS under Sections 22(c) and 60(3) of the NDPS Act." Investigators are currently working to determine the origin and planned destination of the seized drugs.
