Imphal: Security forces across Manipur have intensified counter-insurgency operations, resulting in the destruction of 26 illegal bunkers and the arrest of multiple militants. Police apprehended three active members of the banned People’s Liberation Army and its political wing, the Revolutionary People’s Front, in the Imphal West district. Officials reported that the suspects were linked to numerous violent criminal activities within the state.

Joint security teams dismantled 26 unauthorized bunkers across the Kamjong and Ukhrul districts. These structures were reportedly utilized by armed cadres to control strategic territory and facilitate violence. Searches at these sites yielded a pair of binoculars, 23 empty cartridge cases, and eight live rounds of ammunition for Single Barrel Breech Loading guns.

In separate operations, authorities arrested two individuals in Churachandpur for possessing two kilograms of suspected morphine. Another arrest occurred in the Imphal East district, where security personnel apprehended 36-year-old Yumnam Seityajit Mangang with a .22-calibre revolver and nine live rounds of ammunition. Officials confirmed that "coordinated teams of security forces have intensified cordon-and-search operations and area domination exercises" in vulnerable areas across Kangpokpi, Churachandpur, and Thoubal.

Manipur Director General of Police Mukesh Singh is directly overseeing these operations in regions experiencing a surge in armed clashes. Amid the ongoing unrest, three youths from the Kuki tribal community were moved from the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences in Imphal under heavy security following protests. These individuals had been injured in a Monday firefight between rival armed groups in the Kangpokpi district.
