SCERT Nagaland Apologizes for Misspelling Tribe Name in Textbook

Kohima: The State Council of Educational Research and Training in Nagaland has formally apologized for a spelling mistake regarding the Khiamniungan tribe. The error appeared in the Class 8 Nagaland Heritage Studies textbook, where the name was incorrectly printed as Khiamniungam.

In a letter to the Khiamniungan Students Union based in Noklak, the council clarified that the mistake was unintentional. Officials explained that they had implemented review processes during the book's preparation, but the oversight still occurred.

The council recognized that textbooks are essential learning tools and admitted that inaccuracies can cause confusion for students. To prevent future errors, the organization pledged to implement stricter corrective measures for upcoming publications.

The SCERT expressed regret over the situation and thanked the community for bringing the issue to their attention. They requested continued cooperation and understanding from the affected parties as they work to address the oversight.
