Guwahati: A four-kilometre stretch of rural road in Assam is falling apart. The route connects Bamuni via Dalgaon to the National Highway 127 at Borbhagiya in Kaliabor. It is a disaster. Potholes now litter the surface, turning a simple commute into a daily ordeal for locals.
The Public Works Department maintains the path. It was originally built under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana. Despite the growing damage, the department has ignored the route for a long time. The road is now effectively unfit for normal traffic. Regular movement has stalled.
Residents rely on this connection to hit the highway. They are frustrated by the lack of action. "The deteriorating surface has made the road increasingly difficult to navigate and has affected regular vehicular movement," according to local reports. Commuters want urgent repairs to restore safe travel across the region.
