Guwahati: Polling teams fanned out across Nagaon and Morigaon districts on Monday. They headed toward 2,307 stations to prep for Tuesday's Lok Sabha by-election. The administration mobilized 11,535 total personnel for the task. This force includes 9,228 polling and presiding officers alongside 2,307 security staff.
Dispatch centers sent teams from three distinct hubs. The Nagaon Government Higher Secondary Boys' School handled crews for Raha and Nagaon-Batadroba. Dawson Higher Secondary Multi-Purpose School dispatched teams for Rupohihat, Samaguri, and Dhing. Morigaon College served as the final hub for teams heading to Morigaon, Jagiroad, and Laharighat. Logistics teams arranged 584 vehicles in Nagaon district to move equipment and staff, with food and parking spots secured at Nehrubali and Garufield.
The constituency contains 19,02,009 registered voters. The rolls list 9,58,595 men, 9,43,364 women, and 50 third-gender voters, plus 10,782 D-voters. Authorities labeled 624 stations as sensitive. Officials assigned 54 micro-observers to watch these spots in Nagaon. Oversight duties fall to 203 sector officers and 53 zonal officers managing the field.
Aranyak Saikia, the Returning Officer, expects a smooth process. He publicly urged the electorate to show up at the booths. "Aranyak Saikia, Returning Officer for the Lok Sabha constituency by-election, appealed to voters to exercise their franchise freely and without influence and participate in the electoral process."
