Shillong: Polish guitarist and composer Marcin Patrzałek took the stage at the Lariti Performing Centre in Mawkasiang on August 12. His performance kicked off at 8:30 pm as part of his Art of Guitar Tour 2026. He played his signature percussive style, mixing fingerstyle guitar with electric sounds and vocal layers. The crowd loved it.
The show featured local acts from the Chief Minister’s Meghalaya Grassroots Music Programme. Performers included Riffoff winner Leo Boys, Larger Than 90, Chegim Durama, and LB King. These artists came from across the region. Durama represented the Garo Hills, while Leo Boys and Larger Than 90 hailed from the Khasi and Jaintia Hills.
Marcin spent time with local musicians before the show to trade ideas. He encouraged the young crowd to look past their borders. "No matter where you are, anything is possible," he told the audience. He claimed music could start anywhere, even alone in a room or a shaded corner outside.
The Government of Meghalaya and the Department of Tourism organized the event under Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma. This collaboration aims to boost local performers by offering new stages and exposure. The program already supports busking gigs at tourist spots to help musicians earn a living. Shillong remains a hub for choirs, bands, and solo performers.
