Shillong: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma handed out sanction letters on July 23 at his official residence in Shillong. He used the Chief Minister’s Special Development Fund to support community groups, sports clubs, and schools. He also flagged off a fleet of new buses for local educational institutions. The cash covers school buildings, extra classrooms, and community halls. It also pays for office space, sanitation units, basketball courts, and water systems. Ambulance services, washing platforms, and sports gear round out the list.

Several organizations received backing during the event. This list includes the Synjuk Rangbah Shnong Dorbar Raid Mathan, the Chibak Agalgittim Sports and Cultural Club, and the Mizo Women Welfare Society. Schools like Laitnongrim Upper Primary, Umpling Presbyterian Secondary, and St. Anthony’s Higher Secondary also secured funding. Groups such as Reach Shillong Ministries, the Church of God in Sohryngkham, and the Rangthong Cultural Club and Sports Association appeared on the list of beneficiaries.

Sangma told the crowd the fund helps the state tackle urgent needs that bigger programs might miss. He stated, "The CMSDF enables us to respond quickly to the aspirations and requirements of our communities by supporting projects that have a direct impact on people's lives." He pushed for fast work on these projects. He wants every team to hit their deadlines so citizens see results sooner rather than later.
