Police Seize Two Kilograms of Heroin in Imphal

Imphal: Security forces stopped a four-wheeler in Porompat on Wednesday. They found 168 soap cases packed with suspected Heroin No. 4. The stash weighed roughly two kilograms. Officers arrested Bigyan Baniya, 21, and Manoj Chettry, 27, at the scene.

Police seized the vehicle used to haul the drugs. This bust follows a series of security moves across Manipur. Authorities confirmed that "intelligence-based combing, cordon and search operations are being intensified across the state to crack down on extortion networks and other criminal activities."

Security forces also grabbed two suspected militants recently. They arrested Sairem Bolex Singh, an alleged National United Movement member, on June 30. One day later, police picked up Oinam Kalajit, a reported People's Liberation Army cadre.

Officers now run 115 checkpoints throughout the state. They also provided armed escorts for 531 trucks moving supplies along NH-37.
