Agartala: Tripura police hauled in a massive drug shipment late Sunday night. Officers working the Damcherra police station area stopped a suspicious vehicle during a routine patrol near the Mizoram border.

They found 1.5 lakh Yaba tablets stashed inside the car. The street value sits at roughly Rs 7.5 crore. Police took 23-year-old Anup Nunia, a resident of Silchar, Assam, into custody on the spot.

The search went by the book. Officials brought in an Executive Magistrate, Sub-Divisional Police Officer K. Sisodia, and a team from the Forensic Science Laboratory to oversee the process. North Tripura Superintendent of Police Avinash Kumar Rai confirmed the recovery and the arrest.

Authorities are now hunting for the rest of the operation. Police said an "investigation is underway to identify and apprehend other members of the drug trafficking network involved in the smuggling operation." They plan to trace exactly where these pills came from and where the driver intended to take them.
