Guwahati: Security forces pulled 17,000 Yaba tablets from the Gangpar area in Sribhumi district on Friday, September 18. The stash holds a street value of Rs 1.17 crore. The owner fled the scene before authorities arrived. The person is currently on the run.
Border Security Force agents and Sribhumi Police teamed up for the raid. They recovered the drugs after the owner abandoned the shipment. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed the news on X. He poked fun at the suspect while noting the agency's success. "Owner became Mr. India. Rs 1.17 cr didn't. Mogambo khush nahi hua," Sarma posted.
Police have launched an active investigation to hunt down those responsible for the contraband. Yaba acts as a synthetic drug mix of methamphetamine and caffeine. It usually moves in tablet form. State authorities are ramping up efforts to choke off illegal drug trafficking routes across Assam.
