Aizawl: Mizoram police arrested eight women this week after seizing a total of 352 grams of heroin. Most of the contraband was discovered during routine vehicle inspections at the Khankawn check gate, a common transit point leading toward Aizawl.

The largest single recovery occurred in the Bethlehem Vengchhak area of Aizawl. In that incident, officers apprehended a 19-year-old woman found in possession of 180 grams of heroin.

Authorities identified the Champhai district as a primary entry point for illegal shipments. Police stated that the recent arrests "highlight the ongoing challenge of drug trafficking in the region" as the state works to curb the flow of contraband.
