Police rescue six cattle after high-speed crash in Assam

Guwahati: Cops intercepted a Maruti WagonR on the National Highway 127B flyover late Wednesday night. The driver ignored orders to stop. He floored it instead. The high-speed pursuit tore through the dark toward the Balajan market.

The chase ended when the driver lost control and slammed the car into a roadside shop. He vanished into the night before officers could grab him. Police from Balajan, Golokganj, and Shoulmari converged on the wreck to secure the scene.

Inside the crumpled vehicle, officers found six head of cattle. The animals were hauled to safety as authorities launched a hunt for the smuggler. The incident left the Balajan area on edge, forcing police to keep a close watch to prevent further trouble.

Police officially reported that they "registered a case under the relevant sections of law." They currently hold the seized car as evidence while investigators dig into the smuggling ring behind the botched transport run.
