Guwahati: Morigaon police arrested a suspected drug peddler during an anti-narcotics operation in Kalyanpur on Tuesday. Officers recovered 45 containers filled with a substance they believe to be heroin, though the contents remain subject to forensic confirmation.

The suspect, identified as Rakibur Rahman of Morimuslim Gaon, was apprehended following specific intelligence gathered by the force. Police sources indicated that the man is a repeat offender with a documented history of narcotics violations, noting that he was "earlier imprisoned on three occasions in connection with narcotics-related offences."

Authorities are continuing their investigation to identify the source of the contraband and map out the broader distribution network. The Special Branch of the Morigaon Sadar Police is leading the ongoing inquiry into the case.
