Imphal: The Pherzawl District Administration teamed up with the District Health Society on Wednesday to kick off the Stop Diarrhoea Campaign 2026. This health push at district headquarters also included screenings for non-communicable diseases and a recruitment drive for government welfare benefits.
Deputy Commissioner Anunay Anand spoke to the crowd about fighting diarrhoeal outbreaks. He stated, "Simple preventive measures such as proper handwashing, maintaining hygiene, and timely rehydration using ORS can effectively combat diarrhoeal diseases." ASHA workers backed this up with live demonstrations on how to keep families healthy.
The medical team gave out free medicine to a long line of local residents. Meanwhile, officials led a separate effort to flag the dangers of drug abuse while screening for chronic health conditions. ICDS District Programme Officer T Chingngaihlian kept the momentum moving by signing up four new mothers for the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana during the event.
Top local leaders joined the effort. Superintendent of Police T. Lalboi Haokip and ADC Zousanglur Joute were on site alongside several health officers to oversee the proceedings. The program aims to tighten healthcare outreach across the region.
