Kohima: NPP President Conrad K. Sangma has overhauled his party's Nagaland unit. He appointed MLA A. Nyamnyei Konyak as the new Leader of the NPP Legislature Party in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly. This change took effect immediately. Nyamnyei Konyak replaces Nuklutoshi, who was relieved of his duties.
Sangma acted under the party constitution. He wants to strengthen the legislative wing. The party ordered all members to support Nyamnyei Konyak as he begins his new role.
The shake-up also includes a new interim committee. This five-member group will keep the state unit running while the party searches for a permanent State President. The committee includes Chuba Jamir, James Vizo, Audrey Jamir, Eje Wangnyu Konyak, and Er. H. Khumtimong Sangtam of the National People’s Youth Front.
The committee answers to the National Working President and the National Committee. The official order states the members will "discharge such responsibilities as may be assigned by the National Working President or the National Headquarters from time to time." They will coordinate with national leadership until the appointment process finishes.
