Agartala: Residents of Jubarajnagar in North Tripura marked Environment Day this year by launching the Elders Forest initiative. This project aims to combine environmental conservation with the preservation of local wisdom by involving the community in tree-planting efforts.

The initiative emphasizes the role of older generations in guiding ecological restoration within the region. By creating a dedicated space for greenery, organizers hope to foster a stronger connection between residents and their local landscape. Participants gathered to plant native saplings, establishing a site meant to serve as a long-term resource for both the environment and the community.

As part of the inaugural event, local leaders expressed their commitment to sustainability. "This initiative serves as a bridge between our past and our future," one organizer stated. The project is expected to expand over the coming years as more residents join the effort to protect Jubarajnagar’s natural surroundings.
