North East NGOs Train on Social Stock Exchange and Cyber Security

Kohima: Representatives from various NGOs and civil society organizations across North East India gathered in Chümoukedima on June 16 for a workshop focused on digital security and funding growth. Hosted by the North Eastern Institute of Social Sciences and Research in partnership with the India Social Responsibility Network, the event aimed to bolster institutional capacity in governance and resource mobilization.

Ashish Mansharamani, Associate Director of the India Social Responsibility Network, introduced the session by emphasizing the digital shift in the social sector. He stated, "The growing importance of cyber security for organizations that increasingly rely on digital platforms for communication, fundraising, and programme management" served as a central theme for the day. Experts from CyberPeace provided practical guidance on defending against phishing, malware, and other online threats.

A significant portion of the workshop focused on the Social Stock Exchange. Vimal Bhatter from the Securities and Exchange Board of India detailed the regulatory landscape, including eligibility requirements and disclosure standards for non-profit organizations. Shiwani Mundra followed with a virtual demonstration of the registration process to help participants navigate the technical compliance obligations.

The event concluded by encouraging local organizations to leverage Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives and ethical governance to ensure sustainable progress. Dr Fr CP Anto, Principal of NEISSR, reaffirmed his institution's commitment to supporting the community development efforts led by regional social organizations.
