Gangtok: The North East Integration Rally, which commenced in Kolkata on January 4, successfully arrived in Sikkim on January 6. To mark the occasion, the NEIR Fest 2026 was hosted on Tuesday at the College of Agricultural Engineering and Post Harvest Technology in Ranipool. This institution, which operates under the Central Agricultural University, provided a vibrant backdrop for students, faculty, and guests to engage in a day dedicated to regional harmony and academic growth.
Biswadeep Gupta, the founder of KRC Foundations and CEO of the NEIR, spearheaded the event to promote cultural exchange and innovation. The festivities featured a variety of interactive sessions, traditional performances, and collaborative art presentations that highlighted the shared heritage of the eight northeastern states. Faculty members highlighted the event as a vital initiative that fosters mutual respect and confidence among the youth, effectively transforming the campus into a dynamic space for learning beyond standard classroom boundaries.
A notable highlight of the festival included a dedicated session on disaster management, which emphasized community preparedness and communication strategies essential for the region. Distinguished guests in attendance included advisor Prof. Dr. Sukumal Deb, activist Kh. Gajendra Singh, and members of the Tripura HAM Radio Club. Prof. S.I. Yadav, along with Dr. Rakesh Raina, welcomed the delegation and reaffirmed the institution's commitment to supporting the integration movement.
