NIFT Shillong Graduation Show 2026: Celebrating Creativity, Innovation and Excellence

Shillong: The National Institute of Fashion Technology successfully hosted its Graduation Show 2026 on 23rd May 2026 at Windermere Resort, celebrating the academic achievements, creativity and professional accomplishments of the graduating students across various disciplines.

The Graduation Show serves as a prestigious platform showcasing the culmination of years of academic learning, creative exploration and practical industry engagement undertaken by the graduating students of NIFT Shillong. The exhibition reflects the diverse experiences, design perspectives and professional exposure gained by students through their 16-week graduation project and collaborations with leading organisations and professionals across India.

The Department of Fashion Communication presented its Graduation Show 2026 under the theme ‘Communique,’ reflecting the evolving language of design, storytelling and visual communication in contemporary society. A total of 23 students showcased their graduation projects spanning branding, visual design, spatial experiences, photography, digital communication and interdisciplinary creative practices. Students worked at reputed organisations like Hidesign India Pvt Ltd, DeviPro Wellness Pvt LTD, Head Field, The House of Rare, Ethera, Monk with Block, Software solution, Head Field, displaying multi-disciplinary creative skills and design processes.

The Department of Fashion & Lifestyle Accessory Design proudly celebrated the achievements of 20 graduating students, who completed their graduation projects across diverse specialisations, including Jewellery Design, Product Design, UI/UX, Lighting Design and Packaging Design. Students worked with renowned organisations such as Tanishq, Amrapali, Malabar Gold and Diamonds, Hindustan Unilever, Unilever, Giva and Emerald Jewellery Industry, demonstrating their professional capabilities and innovative design thinking.

The Department of Textile Design showcased the work of 25 graduating students who completed their graduation projects with prominent companies and design houses. Students secured placements in prestigious brands including Giva Emerald Jewellery, Eastern Silk, Binayak Tex Processors, YAVI, Sahil Kochhar, Obeetee Carpets, Dhiya Couture, Kautha by Farah, V Craft Collective and Colorsoft Pvt. Ltd. The projects reflected strong engagements with contemporary textile practices, sustainable innovation, craft revival and market-oriented design solutions.

The Department of Fashion Management Studies celebrated the successful completion of the Master of Fashion Management programme by 22 graduating students. Their graduation projects spanned Fashion Retail and Merchandising, Brand Management and Marketing, E-commerce and Digital Strategy, Supply Chain and Operations, and Sourcing and Product Development, in organisations like Pepe Jeans, Blue Stone Jewellery & Lifestyle Limited, V-Mart Retail Ltd, Blueberry Men’s wear, Reliance Fashion & Lifestyle, receiving an encouraging industry response.

The Department of Fashion Design pompously showcased the work of 30 graduating students, comprising 6 students presenting their Design Collections and 24 students showcasing their Graduation Projects. The collections reflected innovation, craftsmanship, contemporary aesthetics and industry relevance, highlighting the students’ creative and technical expertise developed through rigorous academic and industry exposure. The graduating students also secured placements and industry engagements with prominent fashion brands and designers, including Blackberrys, LEH Studio, Being Human Clothing, Rohit Kamra, Aditi Gupta and United Colours of Benetton, further demonstrating the department’s commitment to nurturing industry-ready design professionals.

Speaking at the event, Shri Frederick Roy Kharkongor IAS, Principal Secretary, Department of Textiles, Govt. of Meghalaya, emphasised the importance of nurturing creative talent and strengthening the synergy between education, industry and regional development through design innovation and entrepreneurship. He appreciated the seamless blend of craft to culture and the harmony of narratives and heritage. He also expressed satisfaction over the growing collaboration between the Government of Meghalaya and the National Institute of Fashion Technology, Shillong through various initiatives and associations under the leadership of Dr. Brijesh Deore, Director, NIFT Shillong.

Prof. Nalini Prava Tripathi, Director, Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Shillong, addressed the gathering and highlighted the growing significance of interdisciplinary collaboration, innovation, entrepreneurship and leadership in shaping the future of the creative minds.

The Campus Director of NIFT Shillong, Dr. Brijesh Deore, stated that the Graduation Show is a reflection of the institute’s commitment towards academic excellence, innovation and industry-oriented learning. He congratulated the graduating students for their dedication, creativity and resilience, and wished them success in their future endeavours.

The teachers of Hill View Secondary School and Seven Set Secondary School, along with their respective students, attended the Graduation Show 2026 as part of NIFT Shillong’s continued outreach towards creating awareness about design education and its growing relevance as a promising career pathway. Their presence reflected the increasing interest among educational institutions in introducing students to opportunities within the creative industries, innovation and design-led professions. The students were mesmirised with the direct interaction with the Campus Director, Faculty members and students of NIFT, Shillong.

The Graduation Show 2026 witnessed enthusiastic participation from industry professionals, academicians, alumni and guests, making it a vibrant celebration of creativity, innovation and emerging design leadership from Northeast India. Adding a thoughtful touch to the occasion, NIFT Shillong promoted environmental consciousness by presenting saplings to distinguished guests, spreading the message of ‘go green’, while officials of National Institute of Fashion Technology were elegantly attired in traditional handloom ensembles, reflecting the institute’s commitment to sustainability, cultural heritage and the rich textile traditions of the region.

The event was a grand success contributing to the rich cultural landscape of the country and strong encouragement to the youth of the nation.
