Kohima: The newly constructed Nagabazar Sub-Centre in Kohima was officially inaugurated on Wednesday by Chief Medical Officer Dr. N. Leamnyei Konyak. Built with health grants from the 15th Finance Commission for 2021-2022, the facility aims to provide accessible and affordable medical care to the local community.
Established in 1987, the centre now operates with a dedicated staff of eight, including nurses, a dresser, a vaccinator, and medical attendants. During the ceremony, Dr. Leamnyei emphasized the government's commitment to healthcare as a fundamental right, urging staff members to serve the public with dedication and empathy.
The upgraded facility offers a wide range of services, including maternal and child health, family planning, and management of both communicable and non-communicable diseases. Patients can also access mental health support, geriatric care, and emergency services for trauma and burns. To support these efforts, the centre is equipped with 12 essential medical tools, 14 diagnostic services, and 106 free medications through the government's Free Drug Service initiative.
Local councillor Zeneivonuo Nakhro welcomed the development, noting that the centre brings vital health resources directly to the colony. She encouraged residents to take ownership of the facility and help it become a hub for wellness and community education.
