Imphal: Nearly 1,000 people braved heavy rainfall in Senapati on Tuesday evening to attend a candlelight vigil for six Naga civilians who were recently killed. The event at the district headquarters brought together students, women, and various civil society organizations to pay respects and offer support to the families of the deceased.

The gathering was organized by local groups including the Naga People’s Organization, the Senapati District Students’ Association, and the Senapati District Women Association. SDSA President A Saloni Tony opened the ceremony by urging the community to remain united in their quest for justice. He told the crowd, "Tonight, they remind us that even in loss, we are not alone. We must be keepers of memory and ensure their names are spoken with honor, remembered with dignity, and justice pursued with patience and unity."

During the tribute, the Village Guard performed a ceremonial salute to mark the lives of the fallen. Leaders from several organizations, including the NorthEast Students’ Organization and the Zeliangrong Youth Front, delivered speeches condemning the violence. The NPO president reiterated the demand for justice and emphasized that the brutality suffered by the victims was unacceptable. The vigil concluded at 8:30 PM, serving as a powerful display of community solidarity and shared grief.
