Kohima: Kepozo Kapuh, a postgraduate student from Nagaland, received the Best Responder Award at the Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament 2026 held in New Delhi from June 15 to 17. The event was organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in partnership with MY Bharat to engage young leaders on public policy and nation-building.
Representing Nagaland, Kapuh served as the Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment during the sessions. He competed against delegates from across the country who were chosen through a multi-stage selection process. His active participation during the Question Hour and various deliberations resulted in a top honor that includes a cash prize of 1 lakh rupees.
This year the assembly focused on the theme Nari Shakti Vandan: Catalysing Inclusivity and Viksit Bharat 2047. Discussions centered on themes like women’s leadership, empowerment, and the collective role of youth in shaping a developed India. During the event, Kapuh was featured on Sansad TV, the official channel of the Parliament.
The proceedings included judges such as Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya. Kapuh, who studies Political Science at St Joseph’s College in Jakhama, is known for his history of representing his home state in youth leadership forums. Observers view his success as a sign of the national potential of Naga youth, noting the event was designed for “deliberate on governance, public policy, social justice and nation-building.”
