Kohima: The Nagaland Police signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Assam's Royal Global University on Tuesday to expand educational access for the families of police personnel. The agreement was finalized in Kohima at the office of the Director General of Police, with leadership from both organizations in attendance.
Director General of Police Rupin Sharma signed the deal alongside Dr. D. N. Singh, the registrar of academics at Royal Global University. The partnership aims to assist the children and dependents of both active and retired officers. Sharma noted that this initiative will provide tangible support for the community by facilitating access to quality higher education.
Under the new arrangement, the university will offer two specific scholarship programs: Royal Shaurya and Royal Suraksha. These categories are tailored for eligible dependents of security personnel, including those who are currently serving, retired, disabled, or deceased. Dr. Singh emphasized the university's commitment to this collaboration, stating, "The university was committed to recognising the contributions of police personnel by ensuring their families have access to academic excellence, scholarships and holistic development opportunities."
Several high-ranking officials attended the signing ceremony, including ADGP Renchamo P. Kikon and various Inspectors General and Deputy Inspectors General of the Nagaland Police.
