Kohima: The Interim Nagaland Indian Medicine Council (INIMC) has announced that all practitioners of the Indian System of Medicine (ISM) operating within Nagaland must register with the state body. This directive applies to professionals holding BAMS, BUMS, BSMS, and BSRMS qualifications.
Following guidance from the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine in New Delhi, the council requires practitioners currently registered in other states to complete their local enrollment between June 15 and December 15, 2026. The council warned that non-compliance will be treated as a violation of the NCISM Act, which could lead to severe disciplinary or legal consequences.
The INIMC also implemented new rules for visiting professionals. Practitioners entering Nagaland for clinical consultations, medical camps, academic workshops, or hospital work must secure transit registration or temporary permission from the INIMC before starting their activities. The council noted that its office remains open for newly qualified graduates and general regulatory matters.
Regarding the enforcement of these standards, the council stated, "failure to comply within the stipulated period would be deemed a violation of the NCISM Act and related regulations, attracting legal, disciplinary and penal action." For registration details, professionals can contact Registrar Dr. Tiakaba Jamir at 9436010174, Deputy Registrar Dr. Khonuo Mary at 9436404024, or reach out via email at nagalandimc@gmail.com.
