Kohima: Nagaland officially launched the self-enumeration phase of Census 2027 on Tuesday, marking the start of a digital-first approach to data collection. Residents across the state can now register their households online through June 30 as part of the broader national effort.

Governor Nand Kishore Yadav inaugurated the process at Lok Bhavan in Kohima. During the event, he emphasized that this census relies entirely on digital platforms, allowing citizens to input their information directly for the first time. The initiative is being conducted under the theme My Census, My Development.

The data collected will serve as a vital tool for the government to shape future policies in healthcare, education, infrastructure, and social welfare. Governor Yadav highlighted the significance of the operation, stating, "Census 2027 is being conducted in a fully digital mode and that, for the first time, citizens can complete household enumeration online during the self-enumeration period."

To ensure a successful count, the state has deployed more than 6,100 officials. The Governor encouraged these workers to approach their responsibilities with professionalism and sincerity. He also requested that village councils, community organizations, tribal hohos, and local elders support the process to ensure every resident is accurately included in the final count.
