Kohima: The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) is turning up the heat on the government. On July 20, party leaders in Kohima declared that their Chhatron Ki Goonj campaign will not stop until students receive justice. The initiative targets widespread recruitment irregularities and repeated examination paper leaks.
NPCC working president C Apok Jamir cited staggering data at the Congress Bhavan. He claimed 152 paper leaks have occurred over the last decade, impacting 7.5 crore students. These failures have shattered the dreams of countless families who often sell property or take loans to fund their children's education. Aspirants frequently study for 10 hours a day over five years, only to watch corruption derail their efforts.
Jamir blamed the government for failing to provide any real solutions. He noted there have been zero convictions despite the scale of the crisis. "The campaign will continue, and party workers will create awareness among the people of Nagaland on the issue. The Congress is determined to keep exposing the failures of the education and examination system until justice is delivered," said NPCC working president Khriedi Theunuo.
Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi launched the movement on June 17 in Kota, Rajasthan. He recently rallied in Dehradun on July 17 to push for reform. The Congress demands stricter penalties for leakers, independent oversight for exams, and a transition to a merit-based system. The NPCC is now mobilizing its subordinate committees across the state to sustain the pressure through public outreach and awareness drives.
