Nagaland Congress Challenges BJP Claims on Infrastructure Progress

Kohima: The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has publicly challenged claims made by Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Textiles Pabitra Margherita regarding infrastructure growth in the state. The party argues that the government’s narrative of progress does not match the daily experiences of local residents.

While the Union Minister recently emphasized budgetary allocations and railway electrification as proof of advancement, the NPCC contends that development should be measured by functional infrastructure rather than speeches. The committee specifically pointed to the lack of progress on major railway initiatives, noting that the Dimapur Railway Station remains outdated despite various modernization promises. The party highlighted that passengers continue to struggle with subpar facilities at the state's primary railway gateway.

Concerns also extend to the state's road network. The NPCC alleged that roads across Dimapur, Niuland, and other districts are riddled with potholes and poor drainage. They raised questions regarding construction standards, noting that many new roads have deteriorated quickly after completion. The party cited these issues as evidence of poor quality control and ineffective use of public funds.

The NPCC urged the administration to move away from what it described as "self-congratulatory narratives" and instead deliver actual results. They have demanded a transparent status report on stalled railway projects and immediate action to repair the deteriorating road network across Nagaland.
