Kohima: Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has called for a coordinated and proactive response from all government departments to manage potential challenges during the upcoming monsoon. During a high-level meeting at his residential complex in Kohima, Rio stressed the importance of seamless communication and collective responsibility to protect public safety.

The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority presented meteorological forecasts identifying potential risk areas across the state. In response, Rio ordered all departments to ensure that emergency machinery and response systems remain fully operational. Officials from the PWD and the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation briefed the meeting on road infrastructure, specifically noting plans to mitigate landslide risks on National Highways 29 and 2. The government is also considering traffic regulations for heavy vehicles to maintain safety and flow on these routes.

Essential service departments provided updates on their state of readiness. The Health and Family Welfare Department confirmed that medical staff and essential supplies are prepared for emergency scenarios, while the Food and Civil Supplies Department verified that the state has sufficient stocks of essential commodities. The meeting also included participation from Deputy Chief Minister TR Zeliang and several cabinet advisors, who reviewed departmental resource deployment and response strategies.
