Kohima: Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio is calling on residents to actively support the upcoming Census 2027. Rio emphasized that reliable data collection is vital for fair representation and effective developmental planning across the state.
Sharing informational graphics on social media, Rio confirmed that Nagaland is preparing to participate alongside the rest of India. The exercise marks the country's first digital census and will take place in two distinct phases. The initial phase focuses on house listing and housing data, beginning with a self-enumeration period from June 16 to June 30, 2026. This will be followed by house-to-house verification throughout July 2026.
The second phase, covering population enumeration, is scheduled for February 2027. Officials will gather a range of details, including family structure, literacy, employment, migration, fertility, and caste information. The government plans to utilize digital tools to increase accuracy and accelerate the release of findings.
Households can input their data directly through the official portal at se.census.gov.in. This self-reported information will later be verified by census enumerators during their field visits.
