Kohima: A delegation from France concluded a six-day visit to Nagaland this June, aiming to strengthen international ties across sectors including tourism, hospitality, and sports. Led by Alliance Française du Bengale director Marc Boudin, the team met with government officials and private stakeholders in Dimapur to discuss potential institutional partnerships and professional development programs.
The group featured experts from various fields, including explorer Linda Myriam Bortoletto, wine educator Olivier Karim Thienot, and Olympique de Marseille medical chief Damien Laurent Marie Monnot. During a roundtable session chaired by IDAN chairman Abu Metha, officials discussed expanding cooperation in areas such as preventive medicine, culinary traditions, and media promotion. Advisor Daochier I. Imchen specifically invited French collaboration on upcoming regional initiatives involving animation, gaming, and film festivals.
Marc Boudin described Nagaland as a “region of culture” and said the visit aimed not only to promote French culture but also to link Naga and French traditions through exchanges and partnerships. The visit also included practical events like food pairing sessions and the inauguration of a football-themed space at a local café, highlighting the state's interest in sports and hospitality.
Supported by the Niathu Group of Hotels, the trip served as a direct follow-up to last year’s Hornbill Festival, where the French Ambassador to India initially led discussions on mutual cooperation. Representatives from the Nagaland Olympic Association, the Department of Tourism, and several private industry groups participated in the talks to ensure long-term engagement.
