Imphal: The Naga Peoples Movement for Human Rights (NPMHR) expressed deep shock after discovering the dismembered remains of six Naga civilians. These individuals were kidnapped and held hostage by members of the Kuki community after being taken from Leilon Vaiphei village in Manipur's Kangpokpi district on May 13.

The organization emphasized that justice is necessary for the victims. Describing the nature of the crime, the group stated, "When certain things are done that goes beyond reasonable or tolerable limits, the rationale human mind often finds itself lost in words." The NPMHR argued that the executions showed a total lack of humanity and violated basic moral standards.

Since the kidnapping, the NPMHR had been urging Nagas to avoid retaliatory actions that might endanger innocent people caught in the crossfire. The organization highlighted its past efforts to advocate for the safe release of the hostages, noting that the Naga community had previously released 14 Kuki hostages unharmed. They expected a similar outcome for the six kidnapped Naga men but were instead confronted with evidence of extreme violence.

The NPMHR is now calling on people across all communities and countries to condemn these actions. They also urged the Naga people to maintain their dignity and stand together in the face of this tragedy.
