Imphal: Tension flared in Manipur’s Noney district on May 26 after suspected militants opened fire on three farmers. The incident occurred around 9 am near Goitang Naga village in the Khoupum Sub-Division while the individuals were working in their fields.
The farmers were identified as 60-year-old Kagundai Riamei, 55-year-old Lungdailu Riamei, and 35-year-old Gailatou Riamei. According to the Khoupum Area Villages Authority Council, the attackers used automatic weapons. Local village volunteers reportedly intervened after the firing started, helping to protect the civilians from harm.
