Kohima: Naga Hospital Authority Kohima hosted thirty dental professionals on July 4 for a workshop on making monolithic dentures with Polyjet 3D printing. The session pushed for modern digital dentistry techniques to replace older, slower methods. Digital tools now offer better precision and faster results for patients.
Anoop Khinchi, Commissioner and Secretary of Health and Family Welfare, spoke at the event. He noted that the government sees digital dentistry as a way to make healthcare more efficient. The new 3D printing tech creates strong, biocompatible dentures much quicker than traditional lab work.
Khinchi pushed local staff to take these skills to district hospitals and community clinics. He emphasized the need for teamwork across all sectors to drive change. "Hospitals provide the clinical ground, academia provides the research, industry provides the technology and the government provides the policy support and infrastructure. When we align, we accelerate innovation and ensure that new treatments reach the patients who need them most," he said.
The Industry 4.0 Innovation Centre provided technical support and the printer for the workshop. Officials hope this training helps spread advanced dental care throughout the region.
