Naga Civil Society Groups Stand With Families of Slain Men in Kangpokpi

Imphal: A delegation of Naga Civil Society Organisations, led by the Tangkhul Naga Long, visited Makhan Liangmai Village in the Kangpokpi district today. The visit served as a show of solidarity for the families of six Liangmai Naga men who were abducted and killed by suspected Kuki militants.

More than 100 people attended a gathering at the village Baptist Church, including community leaders, village elders, and representatives from various Naga groups. During the session, the delegation offered condolences and provided the affected families with cash assistance and essential supplies.

Addressing the crowd, the leaders emphasized the necessity of community unity while seeking justice for those lost. The delegation highlighted that the impact of these deaths extends beyond the immediate families, touching the entire Naga population. CSO leaders said the visit was undertaken to stand with the victims' families during their time of grief and to demonstrate the unity of the Naga community in the face of the tragedy.

The attendees held a moment of remembrance for the six men during the programme. Moving forward, the civil society groups intend to maintain their collective efforts to secure justice and address the concerns of the community while encouraging regional peace.
