Guwahati: Hagrama Mohilary took aim at former BTR Chief Pramod Boro on Thursday. He cited major failures in how the BTR Accord functions. The critique landed just before the upcoming Assam state budget sessions. Mohilary met with department heads at the BTC Secretariat to review ongoing work in public works and rural development.
The BTR expanded its reach into new districts like Sonitpur and Biswanath. Geography grew, but the money stayed the same. Mohilary says the current budget remains tied to old population counts that ignore the new territories. He argues the accord failed to plan for these basic financial realities. This leaves the council struggling to manage its expanded territory.
Mohilary did not stop at budget woes. He pulled the curtain back on alleged corruption during Boro's time in office. He claimed, "appointments were made irregularly during Pramod Boro's tenure in exchange for money." He confirmed the administration is currently reviewing these suspicious hiring practices to determine exactly what went wrong.
