Agartala: Prime Minister Narendra Modi kicked off the Tripura Global Pineapple Festival in New Delhi. The event aims to put the state's Queen Pineapple on the world map. It seeks to drive trade and help local farmers make more money. Officials from the Tripura government and the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region organized the effort.

The Queen Pineapple is famous for its distinct sweetness. It grows only under specific local conditions. The fruit already holds a Geographical Indication tag to prove its quality. Modi praised the effort to bring farmers, business leaders, and policymakers together in one room. He believes these partnerships will fix supply chains and open new markets.

Modi sent a message to the attendees. He wrote: "It is heart-warming to learn about the inauguration of the Tripura Global Pineapple Festival 2026 in New Delhi." The Prime Minister stated that these events highlight the government goal of integrating the Northeast into the national economy. This strategy follows a twelve-year plan to build on the region's natural strengths.

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha thanked the Prime Minister for his support. The government hopes this festival turns the fruit into a global brand. Planners believe this push will turn the state into a key player for premium exports. It is a big bet on local agriculture.
